About DXF

The Detroit Experience Factory connects locals and visitors to Detroit’s people, places and projects through contextual storytelling, interactive experiences and innovative resources. DXF has taken over 100,000 people on experiential tours of Detroit since launching in 2006.

Experience Detroit

Our public tour program features both free and ticketed tours across the city. Private tours offer a deeper dive into Detroit’s many stories and can be customized to fit any theme, levels of Detroit knowledge and group size.

Growing out of a grassroots nonprofit in 2006, then joining forces with D:hive in 2012, and late becoming an independent program of the Downtown Detroit Partnership, DXF is now its own nonprofit organization as of 2019. DXF is a leading resource for both visitors and existing Detroiters to discover and experience the city.

DXF Welcome Center

While our physical welcome center is now closed, DXF continues to operate pop-up welcome centers through our Detroit Concierge Program, as well as provide literature on Detroit's bars and restaurants, and so much more.

For the better part of 16 years, the DXF proudly operated Detroit's only Downtown Welcome Center.

Serving as a hub for both residents and visitors to the City, our Welcome Center offered information, connections and tools to anyone wishing to live, work, engage or build a business in Detroit.
